Ocala Missionaries Seek Help for Haiti

kidschurch.jpgAfter the recent hurricanes, the only building that remains in the small Haitian village of Mapou La Gonave is the half-built church and school that is being erected with the support of Ocala missionaries. Benis and Dominique Guerrier will return to the island in December to put a metal roof on the structure. This is a busy time of year. New Year's will be here before you can blink. Everything is in a rush — a fact that scammers don't miss. So don't lay aside your common sense just because you are in a hurry. Look out for the following:

  • The payment involves a cashier's check or money order.
  • The deal involves a shipper or some complicated 3rd party.
  • Their phone number is bogus.
  • They are in a hurry, but you are the one that has to do all the work.
